Two weeks ago we tested the functionality of the Upper gates and today, on August 30, 2023, we tested the functionality of the Upper head flap in wet conditions. The flap is fitted in front of the Upper gates.
The purpose of the flap is:
- the ability to quickly temporarily enclose the Upper head at a top water level of 128,00 Bpv,
- the ability to operate an emergency navigation in one lock chamber at minimum navigational water level of 128,00 Bpv, until the flap in the second lock chamber is lifted,
- the flap is an additional emergency solution to the situation of failure of the Upper gates.
We did mechanical parameter tests, functional safety tests and many other tests and we are moving on. See how it looks like when the flaps are lifted and, for comparison, the flaps during the modernization and today.
