VODOHOSPODÁRSKA VÝSTAVBA, STATE ENTERPRISE (VV, š. p.), in collaboration with the Civic Association Vodohospodári (OZ Vodohospodári), organized during the school holidays the “Environmental Education Project” – Water managers´ Summer Camps, which took place this year in two formats.
On 13 August 2026, a team of employees from the Department of Development, Eurofunds and Environment at VV, š. p. combined their professional knowledge to prepare an entertaining educational programme for children entitled ‘Become an AI Explorer with the AIHydroHUB Project’, focused on the environmental aspects of water management and our project.
At the start of the session, the children learnt interesting facts about water and strengthened their understanding of the water cycle and the principles of environmentally responsible behaviour. They gained a deeper insight into the importance of water in everyday life, its cycle and its use within the water management infrastructure of VV, š. p., such as water sources – Wells, Wastewater treatment plants, Lock chambers and, last but not least, Hydroelectric Power Plants. The speakers introduced to the children the projects of VODOHOSPODÁRSKA VÝSTAVBA, ŠTÁTNY PODNIK, co-funded by the European Union, and their environmental impacts.
As part of the presentation, attendees had the opportunity not only to learn a lot of interesting information but also to find out about our project “Upgrade of Gabčíkovo locks”, which was co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union. They learnt, for example, that the “Upgrade of Gabčíkovo locks” project focused on the innovation and modernization of the Lock chambers at the Gabčíkovo Waterworks, supported water transport as an environmentally friendly mode of transport, and ensured smooth navigation and safety on the Danube waterway.
We are pleased with the children’s high level of interest, and we believe that, with our entertaining educational programme, we will take part in the camp activities again next year.
