On June 2, 2026, students from the fifth grade at Nevädzová Elementary School in Bratislava visited the Gabčíkovo Waterworks as part of a school excursion.

During the visit, they learned about our project of innovation and modernization of the lock chambers „Upgrade of Gabčíkovo locks“ co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union, the functioning of the Waterworks, and its importance for inland navigation, flood protection, electricity generation from renewable sources, as well as water resource management.

After returning to school, the students created thematic assignments, which they later sent to us. In their works, they captured not only the knowledge they gained but also their own impressions, interesting observations, and perspectives on the significance of the Gabčíkovo Waterworks. Their projects confirm that experience-based learning is one of the most effective forms of education and can naturally spark an interest in technology, water management, and environmental protection.

We would like to thank the teachers and all the students for their visit, their active participation, and their well-prepared school projects.
